Border security tightens

Those quick trips across the border to Mexico and Canada will soon come with new requirements for travelers. As of Thursday, all travelers 19 and older crossing U.S. borders by land or sea from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean must show a government-issued I.D. card, such as a driver’s license, and proof of citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate. U.S. citizens 18 and under must prove citizenship. This new initiative will strengthen the security at U.S. land and sea borders, according to the U.S. Department of State Web site. Starting Friday, U.S. residents can apply for a cheaper, wallet-sized alternative to a traditional passport, which already is required for all air travel outside the USA. The new passport card, to be issued sometime this spring, will be valid for 10 years for adults and five years for children 15 and younger.

Greyhounds savaged puppy

Mr/Ms Ellis, I'm somewhat confused. Brother David took the dogs for a walk, yet you state "[bold]Lisa[/bold], 37, said: "These greyhounds did have muzzles on but were roaming free around the sandpit area." This would appear to be a second hand account of a non-story that might btter have been written "puppy needed vetinary attention after a scrap with two other dogs". Nicely sensationalised there, Alex, I dare say you've earned your wages today. .

Behind the scenes, EU splits over Kosovo

I just heard today in one of public radio programs in U.S. as one talking head or so-called expert saying that poll indicates that majority Serbs do not consider Kosovo's independence worth fighting for. To your leaders who are keen to please the West, ask them what good their close friendship to the West for the last four or five years has brought to Serbia except promise of 'fast-track' to Europe. Speaking of Kostunica's allies as hardliners may get you favor from Western emissaries but does not do good to your cause. Show solidarity to one another in these times of agony. I condone violence wherever it comes form but when the Western media are trying to put the Serbian authorities on the defensive, while knowing there were more violence in Paris Suburbs for weeks than the sporadic riots and stone throwings in Belgrade and Serb controlled cities.

As construction starts, so does stiffer enforcement

The unit issued $1.5 million in citations last fiscal year from October 2006 to September 2007, according to the most recent available statistics.

"Before the project began, we knew what roads they were coming on. ... Now they're on a lot more surface streets," Evans said of trucks and their heavy loads. "They're tearing up the roads."

While damage to roads, especially during the freeze-thaw of late winter, are the most obvious problem of overweight trucks, Evans said deputies spend as much time stopping trucks for equipment failures.

Tuesday morning, Cpl. Brian Earle was especially piqued when he saw a truck driving with a missing mud flap.

First, he said, the missing flap is a safety issue because there is nothing to prevent rocks picked up by the truck's tires from being sent into the windshields of trailing vehicles.

What Good Will A Swedish Lawsuit Against The Pirate Bay Do?

Thanks to all the publicity that TPB gets, I now browse new stuff there about once a week. When a new game or movie comes out that I feel compelled to try, I usually go find a demo on tpb before I go check out the website. As for music, well, my beatles collection was completed years ago... So I have no idea what the music scene is like on tpb.

In all your blogs you go on and on about the "new business model" the movie and music industry need.

Raisin Stars Breathe New Life into a Classic

McDonald: The summer after my freshman year in college, I did summer stock. They paid $175 a week, cash, under the table. I look back at that and I go, "That was illegal." But when they handed me that first $175, I felt like I had more money than I knew what to do with.
Combs: A lot of people don't know about my starving times at Howard University. I was getting evicted and running out of ramen noodles. So I went to apply for $5,000 in financial aid. And I waited for that $5,000 check. And when it came, boy, we was ballin'. I bought up 7-Eleven. I had ramen noodles for years!

TV Guide: Now that you're rich and famous, have you experienced that other discrimination — where people don't want you on the block because you'll draw too much attention?
McDonald: Me, my dog and my kids live in the woods.

W. Chester woman allegedly bilked boss of $925,000

Embezzling public funds has become the white-collar crime du jour in Delaware County, with at least five such cases making headlines in recent memory.

But Delco's embezzlement craze isn't confined to the public sector.

Yesterday, authorities charged a West Chester woman with bilking her boss of $925,000 over nine years using four different methods of fraud.

Authorities say Elizabeth Greenawalt, a "trusted employee" of more than 20 years at Environmental Equipment & Service Company, stole the money between 1997 and 2006.

When Ralph Bucci, the owner of the Marcus Hook-based company, discovered accounting irregularities in October 2006, Greenawalt admitted to stealing an amount of money "yet to be determined," but agreed to pay the company $250,000, according to the criminal complaint.

Slipping through the child support cracks

After 20 years of non-payment the court ordered 14% interest, compounded 2x a year. Yes, he paid for 2 years. Two hundred dollars per week. I have to admit, he's not stupid and has great attorneys. They quickly put his business and home in his wife's name. What could I do? Not much. Give the info to CESA. I cannot afford an attorney bill, checked it out. FOUR THOUSAND DOLLAR retainer to start. OH and I failed to mention that his wife's name is exactly my name and she actually played me in Florida at one hearing? Oh, that was hilarious when I got a warrant in my mail for "NON PAYMENT"? LOL How many years did that take the courts to straighten out? Yep, there is alot more to my story than was written. My intent was for all custodial parents not to give up! I married a man 20 years ago. He paid his support, a very large amount and neither he nor I complained.

Dreamlinux 3.0 Beta 3 Testdrive

I've followed closely the instructions and, after the installation, I could enjoy Compiz Fusion's effects on the desktop. The Engage dock was replaced with Avant Window Navigator after the driver setup. I wanted to see what caused these problems, so I re-installed everything. It seems that everything's related to the way you boot the Live CD. If you boot into GNOME, you will install on your computer Dreamlinux with GNOME ONLY (there is no way you can change this)! But if you choose XFCE, you will get both desktop environments on your system. With them, you will receive a bonus pack of glitches the ones I mentioned above. .
